Roads
National Highway 7 from Nagpur to Hyderabad passes through the district at
Vadki, Karanji, Pandharkawada, Patanbori and Kelapur. State highway from
Amravati to Chandrapur passes through Ner, Yavatmal, Jodmoha, Mohada, Umari,
Karanji and Wani. Nagpur to Tulzapur state highway route passes through Kalamb,
Yavatmal, Arni, Umarkhed etc.[1]
Railways
Yavatmal is the southern terminus of the
762 mm narrow gauge railway known locally as the Shakuntala railway. This line is
composed of two legs intersecting with the broad gauge Howrah-Nagpur-Mumbai line at Murtajapur — the 76 km northern leg
to Achalpur and the 113 km southeastern
leg to Yavatmal. As of 2004 this line was still owned by a London-based company which had leased the line to
India's Central Railway since 1903.[2] Darwha Station lies on this line.
Wani is a railway junction. From Wani, railway line go up to
Rajur, Chanakha and Majari-Varoda. These lines are used for transportation of
coal.[1]

Maidan is in the heart of city. Mahadev Mandir is an antique Hemadpanthi
1100yrs old temple of Kedareshvara. Located in the centre of the town the
Kedareshvara shrine is of great antiquity, its sabhamandap having been added
only in 1915 by public contributions and subscriptions. The sanctuary, the
entrance to which is richly ornamented, contains a largelinga symbol and unlike
other linga symbols has a hollow pit in the centre. In front there is a nandi
installed on a pedestal where from to the left there are niches one of which
houses a brass idol of Shankara sheltered by a eleven hooded cobra also of
brass. Yavatmal City is sourrended few such temples at Lohara and Mandev. Some
says Lohara and Mandev temples were constructed by Asurs (Raksesh). Chouthis
Kalam and Azad Maidan is called as choipatti.m
Wadi (Dam):
Jamwadi (Rajhans Paryatan Sthal) is the beautiful family
picnic place. It is 12 Km far away from YavatmalCity. This place is very
convenient for people because it is on road. There is small temple of God
Shiva. There are many things for children's entertainment , like Swinging,
Sea-saw, Slides etc. This place is not only for the children but also for
elders ,there is also boating facility is available

Shri Vasantrao Naik Government Medical College, (SVNGMC) (Marathi: श्री वसंतराव नाईक शासकीय वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय) is a college in the Yavatmalcity, in the Vidarbha region
of the Maharashtra, India; that provides medical education at undergraduate and
postgraduate levels. SVNGMC is named after the former Chief Minister of
Maharashtra, late Shri Vasantrao Naik.
Established in 1989, recognized by Medical Council of

Over 17.14 lakh voters will cast their votes
for the 16th Lok Sabha election in Yavatmal-Washim Lok Sabha constituency on
April 10. Over 10,000 personnel will man 2009 polling stations across the
constituency.The Yavatmal-Washim Lok Sabha constituency includes Washim,
Karanja, Ralegaon, Yavatmal, Digras and Pusad. There are 9,02,609 male and
8,12,059 female voters who will cast their votes through 2,888 electronic
voting machines. Over 1.23 lakh new voters have been added this time. District
collector and chief returning officer Ashwin Mudgal said 3,508 police personnel
and 2,125 Home Guards are also being deployed to beef up security. Mudgal was
addressing a press conference immediately after the Election Commission of
India declared the election programme on Wednesday. "We have demanded
seven companies of paramilitary forces including SRP force," said SP
Ranjan Kumar Sharma. The collector has also briefed about the newly introduced
NOTA (not of the above) option, distribution of voters slip with photo of the
voter and others."Since the model code of conduct came in to force from
today, I have instructed the officials concerned to surrender their official
vehicles, weapons and ordered removal of hoardings from public places,"
Mudgal added.
